1st Annual Retro Recess Record Attempt

Families, seniors, singles, employees, and organizations will converge on the Concord Family YMCA, 15 N. State St., on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. to set a record for the most number of people simultaneously exercising in Concord (official record time is 2:00-3:00 pm). We encourage EVERYONE to join in the fun, regardless of current fitness level or physique.

Concord's seven outdoor pools will open for the season on Saturday, June 14. On June 14 + 15 they will be open 12:30 - 4:30 and from June 16 - 19 (Monday - Thursday) from 5 - 8 pm. Regular hours will begin on June 20. Sign up for session 1 swim lesson on Monday, June 16.

Concord Seniors Shared a Laugh

On Wednesday May 28, 2008 the Concord Recreation Department presented a musical comedy show with performer Bucky Lewis at the Senior Program located at 48 Airport Road. The seniors who attended were treated to sing-a-longs, live music, hilarious stand up and character comedy, spontaneous audience interactive routines and a delicious pot luck luncheon. A great time was had by all!

YMCA offers numerous classes to Seniors.

YMCA proudly offers five free to member classes offered everyday, created just for seniors. Three water programs just for seniors, a unique way to keep fit, without the impact on joints or muscles. The Senior Strength Training program, a very popular program geared towards all levels of fitness, teaching proper weight bearing exercise techniques. The award-winning Silver Sneakers Fitness Program is a proven, results-oriented program that enables older adults, often burdened with chronic conditions, to take charge of their health and maintain an active, independent lifestyle.

Youth Summer Surf Clinic

Ride the waves! Concord Family YMCA is offering a Summer Surf Clinic starting August 4th through August 8th 8:00am-4:00 pm. This clinic is broken up into 2 age groups, 9-12yrs and 13-17yrs. Each day we will meet at the Y and set sail to Hampton Beach, learn about the ocean, paddling, how to control a surf board and catch a wave! Surf boards and wet suits are available, register soon, the Surf Clinic is limited to 12 participants.
