Quicksilver messenger service

At today's confirmation hearing for General Petraeus, Sen. Hillary Clinton sought to justify the prospect of a nonbinding resolution expressing disapproval of the Iraq mission Petraeus is being asked to carry out. She said she wants to send a message to the Iraqi government that it can't rely on American money and lives forever. Later she said her purpose is to send a message to our government as well as the Iraqi government.

I am reminded of the talk of sending a message that preceded the November elections -- and of the retorts such talk elicited.
